I met Leon Lim on Facebook. He wrote me first and we started messaging back and forth. He then suggested we meet for coffee and I agreed. Before we met Leon told me he was deaf. I met him and we sat down for coffee and a six hour conversation the first time we met. How did we converse? With pen and paper. And it was amazing and wonderful. A lot of people say negative things about Facebook. I think this is one story that illustrates positive things can come out of the social media website. If it wasn’t for Facebook, I would not have a deaf friend in my life. It opens my eyes -and- my ears. Leon is also a great artist, check out his website.
